My very first NASCAR race, didn't see much of the races here, but we could hear them. It was cold and wet the entire time, and yes our DTV car crashed.

Anchorage

Anchorage: Not much more exciting than Juneau, and definitely colder. It snowed about 3 inches while we were there.

We're 3322 miles from home!

There are dead bears everywhere. These are in the Hilton. There is also one in JC Penney's.

Blurry pictures of a wild moose. This is the closest we came to nature when fences/cages weren't involved. This guy was wandering around Earthquake Park just outside of Anchorage.

We made it to Sarah Palin's hometown.

Juneau Days 3-7

Days 3-4: No pictures. Only pouring rain and bitter Alaskans. "Liquid sunshine" ceases to be funny. Only about 30% of the town's businesses remain open after the last cruise ship left on Sunday, they all sell/serve alcohol or caffeine. On the bright side I did find the best breakfast place in town, which happens to be connected to a boutique hotel where breakfast is complimentary. I curse my travel people for not booking me at this hotel instead of the one where I have to park up the hill and run to the front entrance in the rain. After 4 days of rain the air smells like dead fish.

Day 5: The sun comes out! Juneau begins to lose that odd smell, people look a little happier. I wander around town a little bit and find the following things:

The Coast Guard - apparently the point of this exercise was to see how close the helicopter could get to the boat without killing everyone.

The Mendenhall Glacier

Blue ice off of the glacier floating in the lake created by the receding glacier.

The State Capitol

The Governor's House a.k.a. where Sarah Palin lives when the Alaska legislature is in Juneau.

The mountains on Douglas, Alaska.

Gastineau Channel, Juneau on the left, Douglas on the right.

Day 6: No pictures, it's raining again.

Day 7: Outta here, on my way to Anchorage. On the way out notice this sign which sums up my experience in Juneau. They tried hard, but just couldn't quite get it.
